When and Where are tryouts held for the Junior Gold program?
Tryouts take place the first weekend after high school tryouts are completed. Tryouts usually take place at Aldrich Arena. Watch for updated information on this website as we get closer to tryout dates.
How many teams does the Hill JG Program have?
Historically, Hill JG has had one team in the B Division of the Junior Gold High School League. If the numbers warrant, we will have a JGU16 Team as well.
Why do we play Jr Gold B?
It’s due to the limited number of players we have available to play Jr Gold Hockey.
The Junior Gold A division is made up of schools that have an average enrollment of 2,440 students. Hill-Murray has an enrollment of 660 students.
What does it cost to play Junior Gold Hockey?
Team fees are typically divided into 3 payments. With the first payment due at the first team meeting after tryouts. The third installment may be adjusted according to budget. Exact team fees for 25' -26' have not been finalized.
How many games does the team play each season?
30-40 games including regular season, tournaments and post season play-downs.
Will my son need a waiver from his home association to play?
All players whose primary residence is not part of the JCNSP Hockey Association (Johnson, Como, North St Paul - Now East Metro) will need a waiver form signed by their home association President.
What is the Junior Gold High School Hockey League?
The Minnesota Hockey metro area District Directors created the Junior Gold High School League (formerly Metro Hockey League) over 20 years ago to run a Twin Cities, metro-wide league for all high school-age young men who do not play varsity or junior varsity hockey.
It has developed into a premier place for players to continue improving various skills, including hockey, leadership, and sportsmanship, in an enjoyable environment.
Each season the league fields 80-85 teams from all Minnesota Hockey Districts.
These teams originate in various existing Associations and enroll in the league.
There are three divisions; Junior Gold “A”, Junior Gold “B”, and Junior Gold “16U”. –JGSHL website
